Beulah Concrete is a family-owned ready mix concrete company based in Whakatāne, supplying commercial, industrial, rural and residential projects across the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
While ready mix supply is the focus of Beulah Concrete, customers can also draw on the wider Beulah group's concrete capability. Excavation, boxing and concrete placing can be coordinated alongside supply, giving larger projects one point of contact rather than several separate contractors.
With three plants and eight 5m³ concrete trucks, Beulah has the capacity to service everything from small local pours through to continuous pours of 200m³ and more. Ready-mix concrete, engineered and high early strength mixes, and coloured concrete and exposed aggregate finishes and concrete for precast farm effluent systems are all supplied across the region.
Concrete production is quality assured to NZS 3104 through the Concrete NZ Plant Audit Scheme, with regular testing carried out by qualified lab technicians.
Local ownership and decades of concrete experience
Beulah has been part of the Eastern Bay of Plenty construction industry for decades, with the ready mix and contracting sides of the business growing alongside one another.
The business remains family owned and locally operated, with its owners actively involved in day-to-day operations and projects. Today, Beulah Concrete has a dedicated ready mix team of around 18 people, including truck drivers, batchers, lab technicians and office staff.
The industry has changed considerably over that time. Health and safety requirements, regulation and quality control have become more demanding, while the scale of the projects Beulah supplies has continued to grow. A four-truck pour was once considered a substantial job. Today, pours of 200m³ and more can be completed within a single day.
The fleet now includes eight 5m³ concrete trucks, while the newest plant has consent for 24-hour operation when project requirements call for work outside normal hours.
Quality controlled from the plant to the project
Quality assurance is built into Beulah Concrete's production process. The business operates under the Concrete NZ Plant Audit Scheme and is quality assured to NZS 3104, with qualified lab technicians carrying out regular production testing.
The plants are audited to produce concrete up to 50 MPa, allowing Beulah to supply everything from everyday residential and rural mixes through to higher-strength commercial and industrial concrete.
A plant engineer also supports mix design and quality control throughout the year. Where engineered projects require documented strength results, testing information can be supplied as a separate service.
Beulah's team lives and works in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and supports local clubs, organisations and community initiatives through sponsorships and donations.
